Lifestyles was Covenant Lighting’s first customer. In December 2005, I took a leap of faith and purchased numerous pieces from EVERY family that Covenant offered and put them in our Plano, TX location. Within a few months, Covenant’s product was selling well enough that I put the line in our other two locations. One year later, Covenant Lighting became one of our top ten vendors. That, by itself is a strong achievement, but more importantly, Covenant Lighting is our HIGHEST gross margin line. We all know that you don’t pay your bills on sales, it takes profits to pay your bills.

In my opinion, Jeff Carmichael has taken the first step toward changing the way showrooms purchase lighting from wholesalers. He won’t sell Covenant Lighting to everyone. He chooses reputable showrooms and gives them exclusive distribution within their market area. He has managed to trim his operating costs and pass them on to his customers. He understands our business from our side of the fence.

With no sales reps, no fancy catalog, and no free trips to Europe, Covenant Lighting has cut the fat. We now have an exclusive, fashionable, quality lighting line, that we can mark higher and earn more profits selling.
